The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will submit its charge sheet in the Pahalgam terror attack case on December 15, 2025, before a special NIA court in Jammu, officials confirmed on Monday.
The deadly attack, which took place on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists, and left several others injured.
Three Pakistan-Based Terrorists Found Directly Involved
According to investigators, the NIA has established the direct involvement of three terrorists in the attack. The assailants were Pakistani nationals linked to the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Officials revealed that the terrorists had infiltrated into India nearly three years ago before carrying out the attack.
Two Locals Arrested for Providing Shelter and Support
In June, the NIA arrested two local residents for harbouring and assisting the terrorists.
Accused Identified
-
Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar – Resident of Batkote
-
Bashir Ahmad Jothar – Resident of Pahalgam
Investigators said the accused provided food, shelter, and logistical assistance to the terrorists and later disclosed their identities during questioning.
Terrorists Killed in ‘Operation Mahadev’ Encounter
The three LeT terrorists were killed in a security forces encounter on July 28, carried out under Operation Mahadev on the outskirts of Srinagar.
Security officials said the militants had been hiding in the Dachigam–Harwan forest region since the Pahalgam attack.
India’s Military Response: Operation Sindoor
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian armed forces launched precision strikes on May 7 targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The operation, named Operation Sindoor, targeted nine terror locations, including training camps and headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, which officials said were used to plan and direct attacks against India.
Charge Sheet to Strengthen Legal Action Against Terror Networks
The filing of the charge sheet marks a key step in the legal process against those involved in the attack and reflects India’s continued focus on counter-terrorism operations, accountability, and national security.
