Priyanka Chopra Praises Lokah

Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra recently shared her admiration for Lokah Chapter 1 on Instagram, calling it “India’s first female superhero film.” She posted the movie’s poster, writing:

“India’s first female superhero is here. Congratulations Dulquer Salmaan and the entire team of Lokah. This story is winning hearts in Malayalam, and now it’s out in Hindi too. P.S. Added it to my watchlist already! Have you?”

Her shoutout immediately caught the attention of producer and actor Dulquer Salmaan, who responded with excitement:

“OMG! Thank you! This support means the world to our whole team of Lokah!”

Earlier, Alia Bhatt also praised the film on Instagram, calling it a fresh blend of mythic folklore and mystery and expressing her happiness at the love the movie is receiving.

Strong Box Office Performance

Despite a limited initial release, Lokah Chapter 1 quickly turned into a sleeper hit:

  • Malayalam shows: Increased from 647 to 1,382

  • Telugu shows: Over 597

  • Hindi shows: 92 across India

The film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan (daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan), Sandy, Arun Kurian, and Naslen, delivering strong performances that resonated with audiences.

Lokah Among Top Malayalam Films of 2025

Lokah Chapter 1 has become the third-highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2025, following Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan and Mohanlal’s Thudaram.

However, the film faced criticism for a dialogue perceived as demeaning to women, particularly from Karnataka, and for allegedly portraying Hindus negatively. The objectionable dialogue was later removed after Dulquer Salmaan’s production house, Wayfarer Films, issued an apology.
