Operation in Uri Sector

Uri, Jammu & Kashmir – The Indian Army successfully foiled an infiltration attempt in the Uri sector early Wednesday morning, but tragically lost one soldier in the operation.

Search operations are still underway in the area to track down any remaining infiltrators. The incident comes just days after the Army eliminated two terrorists in the same region.

Official Statement

According to an Army statement, troops detected suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) and acted swiftly to intercept. In the exchange, one brave soldier laid down his life in the line of duty.

Security Tightened in Samba

In a separate development, the District Magistrate of Samba has imposed a night curfew in areas up to 2 km from the International Border.

• Timing: 10 PM to 5 AM daily

• Duration: Two months (unless withdrawn earlier)

• Purpose: To assist Border Security Force (BSF) operations and curb unlawful activities

Only individuals with valid reasons will be allowed movement during curfew hours and must show identification when requested by BSF or Police personnel. Violators will face legal action.

Earlier Sacrifices in Kulgam

On 9 August 2025, two Army personnel — Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh — were martyred during a prolonged operation in Akhal Devsar, Kulgam district.

The Chinar Corps paid tribute, stating:

“Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. The Indian Army stands with the bereaved families.”
