Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is witnessing a wave of prosperity and equitable development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha during a commemorative event at Gulshan Ground, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The event honored the legacy of the legendary Dogra warrior, General Zorawar Singh.

Addressing the gathering, LG Sinha highlighted the transformative changes in J&K. He stated, “In recent years, Jammu and Kashmir has exemplified inclusive development, bridging gaps in basic amenities and fulfilling citizens’ aspirations across villages and cities.”

Strengthening Grassroots Democracy

LG Sinha emphasized the deepening of grassroots democracy, noting that democratic ideals and constitutional values now guide the region’s development. “Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, J&K is moving toward equality, opportunity, and social justice,” he added.

Empowering Marginalized Communities

Sinha also spoke about efforts to uplift marginalized communities, including those displaced from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Western Pakistan. He praised the sacrifices of figures like General Zorawar Singh, whose vision of harmony and prosperity aligns with ongoing initiatives to end discriminatory practices and mainstream marginalized groups.

Calling General Zorawar Singh a “beacon of inspiration,” Sinha remarked, “His life symbolizes courage and determination in national service, preserving our civilization’s essence. His campaigns in Ladakh and Baltistan showcase exemplary planning and resolve.”

The LG commended the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust for preserving the warrior’s legacy and inspiring future generations. He stressed the importance of remembering great leaders, stating, “A society that forgets its ancestors risks losing its identity. Their deeds motivate us to pursue equitable development and uplift underprivileged communities.”

Reviving Historical Legacies

Sinha highlighted broader efforts under Prime Minister Modi to revive the legacies of historical figures. He said, “Over the past decade, significant strides have been made to draw strength from the ideals of great personalities like General Zorawar Singh, energizing New India.”

Rapid Development in Jammu and Kashmir

Sinha noted the tenfold increase in project completion speeds across J&K, reflecting the government’s commitment to public welfare. “Prime Minister Modi has transformed India into a global power, creating opportunities for every citizen to contribute creatively without discrimination,” he said.

Describing General Zorawar Singh as a “symbol of national unity,” Sinha highlighted his pivotal role under Maharaja Gulab Singh’s leadership in expanding the Dogra empire and promoting a unified India.

The commemorative event, attended by dignitaries, officials, and the public, paid tribute to the legendary warrior and celebrated the strides made under Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a prosperous and inclusive Jammu and Kashmir.
